A non-stock, non-profit organization to help poor and marginalized communities cope with growing socio-economic problems in Zamboanga City. A Cebuano word meaning “Community for development or progress”.
Registered with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) on January 7, 1998. KKI is also registered and has a licensed to operate as a Civil Society Organization with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) with a license number DSWD-FO-IX RL-000004-2018 and also duly accredited with Sanguniang Panglunsod.

Envisions

Empowered and gender-sensitive communities, regardless of race, age or religion, where there is fullness of life characterized by basic needs being met, equitable sharing of wealth and resources and people making decisions towards the full realization of justice and peace.

Commitment

Consolidate and strengthen urban poor community people’s organizations. Develop competent and responsible leaders and members in communities. 

Enhance access to livelihood opportunities of community partners. 

Raise public consciousness on social development and human rights.

Organizing communities, enabling them to plan and implement programs, access to resources and services in order to meet priority needs and transforming them into self reliant, self-sufficient and self-governed organizations.

Addressing the problems of homelessness by providing opportunities for housing and housing related services such as building affordable houses for low income groups on labor equity basis. Lobbying for more responsive action and identifying more relocation sites, para legal assistance services for those threatened with eviction.

Promotion of children's rights through advocacy, early childhood and basic education in the communities and two (2) shelters with 24-hour services for children in street situation and center for victims and survivors of child trafficking.
