The activity forms part of the project โ€œConflict Prevention and Resolution at the Grassroots: Enhancing Skills of Women, Youth, and IP Leaders in BaSulTa,โ€ supported by UN Women Philippines and implemented by ZABIDA together with local partner NGO Nagdilaab Foundation, Inc. The three-day training gathered participants from the barangays of Colonia, Maloong San Jose, Malinis, Sta. Clara, and Look, composed of members of the Barangay Information Officers Network (BION) and youth representatives. The sessions focused on enhancing the participantsโ€™ knowledge and skills on gender-sensitive conflict transformation, healing, and grassroots peacebuilding. Discussions highlighted conflict dynamics, community healing processes, the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, and the important role of local leaders, BION members, and youth in promoting peaceful and resilient communities. Resource persons from the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) were also invited to provide insights on information dissemination, community engagement, and strengthening local peace advocacy initiatives. Participants also joined interactive workshops on peace advocacy planning, where they explored creative approaches in promoting peace through art and newswriting. These activities encouraged participants to use media and creative expression as tools in amplifying peace messages within their barangays.
