ZAMBOANGA CITY โ In a continued effort to provide emergency employment, Regional Office 9 (DOLE 9) through its Zamboanga City Field Office (DOLE 9-ZCFO), in partnership with the Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA) and Barangay Council of Malagutay extended assistance to 30 disadvantaged workers from Barangays Malagutay and Kasanyangan, in this city under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program.
From May 20 to June 24, 2025, the TUPAD beneficiaries were engaged in various agricultural tasks at Campo Vida Farm, a rising community-based agro-ecological project in Brgy. Malagutay with big dreams of becoming a vegetable chips manufacturing hub.
The project covered activities such as land preparation, clearing of farm pathways, composting, and planting of organic vegetables. These efforts not only improved the farmโs operations but also empowered the workers with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture. Each worker received a total wage of โฑ12,420 for the 30 days employment period. The projectโs total assistance amounts to โฑ384,600. In addition to the wages, DOLE provided each beneficiary with a complete set of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enrollment in an accident insurance program with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), ensuring that their health and safety were protected throughout the duration of their work.
