DALIPE THANKS FRENCH NGO FOR ‘PEACE’ PROJECT FOR SAMA BAJAUs. Mayor John Dalipe welcomes the delegation from ASMAE Philippines, as he thanks the organization for implementing the Promotion of Child Rights of Internally Displaced Ethnic Group of Sama Bajau (PEACE), a 4-year project that promotes the rights of Sama Bajau children to development and protection in partnership with the Zamboanga Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA).
The ASMAE delegation paid a courtesy visit to the local chief executive this Tuesday afternoon, January 21, 2025 where they presented key findings of their observational research on the socio-cultural, economic, and political realities of the Sama Bajau communities in Barangays Kasanyangan and Arena Blanco. These findings were earlier presented during a soft launch event at Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
Mayor Dalipe expressed his support for the project as well as his hope for more similar initiatives promoting the rights and welfare indigenous communities in the city.
The PEACE project is complemented by the Protection of Children in Great Poverty in Southeast Asia (PEGASE) project which is co-implemented with Katilingban sa Kalambuan, Inc. (KKI).
ASMAE is a French international solidarity non-government organization specialized in the development of the so-called children in situation, or those who are experiencing vulnerabilities that threaten their survival, development, and protection in eight (8) countries.
