CSO Assembly 2022: Awarding of Most Improved Enterprise and ATI

On March 18,2022, ZABIDA held the annual CSO General Assembly and simultaneously, the Awarding of Most Improved Enterprise and ATI at the Campo Vida-ATI, Malagutay, Zamboanga City.

In attendance were representatives from the various community sectors that were members of the Federation of Zamboanga City Civil Society Organizations, Inc. (FZCCSOI ).  Representatives of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Office of the City Veterinarian (OCVET), Office of the City Agriculturist (OCA), and Office of the City Planning and Development (OCPD)were also present in show of their support and solidarity.

During the activity, Mr. Khamar Amsain of the ZABIDA Governance Component presented a general orientation on the Mandanas Ruling which was to be implemented from national to local governments this year.  Sequentially, Ms. Queenie Casimiro ZABIDA HRSAA Officer facilitated a workshop on the Opportunities and Challenges of this ruling to the sectors. Members of the Indigenous Peoples Sector, Women Sector, Youth Sector, Housing Sector, Kasambahay Sector, Senior Citizen Sector, Farmers Sector, Transport Sector, and Women Enterprise were grouped and made to discuss their thoughts on this ruling, identifying opportunities and challenges of this rule to their sectors.

Mayor Isabel “Beng” Climaco-Salazar and Mr Jessie Lapinid of the OCPD presented the People’s Council and CSO Desk functioning in the city. They have emphasized the importance of organized CSOs and their voice in representing sectoral issues to the city government.

Afterwards, the Human Rights Services and Enterprise recognized the achievements of some sectoral groups that were able to successfully utilize their given interventions this year.

The Most Improved Enterprise and ATI were presented to the following awardees:

  1. La Puerza Mujeres de Patalon –  Patalon
  2. Salaan Livelihood Women Association – Salaan
  3. Roquean’s Women Organization – San Roque
  4. Lapaz Ginger/food processor – Lapaz
  5. Bunguiao Ginger/food processor – Bunguiao

Awarding of the Most Promising Youth were presented to awardees:

  1. Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay San Roque Council & Katipunan ng Kabataan (Kk)
  2. Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Cacao & Saint Vincent Ferrer Youth Organization

ZABIDA continues to empower and recognize sectoral community members through its Human Rights Sectoral Agenda and Advocacy component under the the Convenio project, with its goal “Peace-Building and Social Cohesion” supports Human Rights Advocacy to raise awareness on the issues and concerns of the Sectoral Groups within partner-communities through partnership and empowering initiatives to organized sectoral groups.
