Manos Unidas Country Coordinators to the Philippines visits Basilan

Manos Unidas is an INGO based in Madrid, Spain. It is the administrative organization for the Convenio Program in the Philippines which is being implemented by the Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA).

For year 2017, Manos Unidas sends their Country Coordinators to visit and personally meet the Convenio Program beneficiaries in Basilan. NAGDILAAB Foundation, Inc. (NFI), a member-organization of ZABIDA, through its Executive Director Ms. Miriam Suacito, warmly welcomed the arrival of Ms. Jessica Del Olmo and Mr. Miguel Carballo in Isabela, Basilan, October 5 of this year.

Together with ZABIDA’s Chairperson, Fr. Angel C. Calvo, CMF and Regional Executive Director, Ms. Esperancita Hupida, NFI arranged a courtesy meeting with Mayor Hanie Bud, of Maluso Municipality. Mayor Bud expressed his appreciation for the support NFI is providing to Barangays in his Municipality. “We really appreaciate your visit because it is not always that we have visitors from other country…”, Mayor Bun also emphasized.

Thereafter, they were brought to Upper Portholland Elementary School to visit the Peace Park and Concrete ground, a result of the Logistical Support from the Spanish Cooperation through the Convenio Program, Townsite Barangay Hall, still in Maluso Municipality, one of NFI’s partner-barangays and beneficiaries of the Logistical Support and a Courtesy Call visit with the Provincial Governor, Hajiman Salliman.

During the Courtesy Call visit to the Office of the Provincial Governor, Gov. Salliman assured the above-mentioned guests that the Province is now “relatively safer” and that the government is focused on strengthening its Tourism through improving its Peace and Security in Basilan as a whole. Salliman also expressed his gratitude and heartfelt welcome for the guests emphasizing how NFI is helping his government in Socio-Civic Development.
