NAGDILAAB Foundation Inc.: “Teach Peace” Lesson Exemplar book launch in Isabela, Basilan

The NAGDILAAB Foundation Inc. (NFI), a Non-Profit Organization based in Isabela City and a partner in empowering communities of Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA) launched its Lesson Exemplar for Peace Education entitled “Teach Peace”. The launching took place in Querexeta Formation Center, Isabela City, Basilan, yesterday, July 13.

Present were Supervisors, Principals and Educators from the DepEd Schools Division of Basilan, Primary and Secondary Schools. Also present were representatives from the Security Sector namely the 4th Special Forces Battalion represented by Capt. David Cayton and the 104th Battalion of the Philippine Army represented by Capt. Ronal Ochimar Sahiban.

The launching program was opened by Ms. Esperancita Hupida, Regional Executive Director of ZABIDA, she extended her gratitude and congratulatory message to the teachers behind the creation of the “Teach Peace” book. She also put emphasis on “the challenge of reaching the lessons in the module to the hearts of the students”. She also said that, “we don’t only teach peace from the books, but we teach peace from experience…Teaching Peace is our commitment for the children of Basilan, as the hope of Basilan (sana).”

Hon. Jim Hataman, Provincial Governor of Basilan was represented by Provincial Adiministrator Uso Dan Salasim, wherein he expressed how the teachers and the people behind the creation of the Lesson Exemplar for Peace Education serve as an inspiration in pushing forward Peace Advocacy. He also highlighted how timely it is given the situation in Mindanao.

The Lessons for Peace Exemplar book was presented by Ms. Miriam L. Suacito, Executive Director of NFI, to the Department of Education – Schools Division of Basilan which was represented by Hja. Norhaya M. Abdurahim, Ed.D, Superintendent – Schools Division.

The “Teach Peace” book is going to be distributed to Elementary and Secondary Schools in Basilan and will be used as a tool for Peace Education and Peace Advocacy to students. (Deorenzie Frances Carreon/ZABIDA)
