In observance to the Farmers and Fisher folks month, ZABIDA under its Human Rights Advocacy conducts a Farmer Leaders Meeting in two (2) Partner-Barangays namely Barangay La Paz and Barangay Bungiao.
The main agenda of both meetings are 1. Re-orientation of Farmers Rights and ZABIDA’s Support to Farmers, 2. Climate Change and its effect to the Farmers and 3. Tree-Planting Activity Planning. Participating farmer leaders showed their dedication towards the Tree-Planting Activity Planning sessions wherein they were asked to identify the location for the activity, the assigned Farmers Association to spearhead the tree-planting, the target participants, the Farmers and Barangay Local Government Units support counterpart and ZABIDA’s support.
The underlying purpose of these meetings is beyond the observance of Farmers and Fisher folks month. It is also to empower the Farmers in taking steps towards Climate Change mitigation. Their plans are to be supported by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office – Zamboanga City (CENRO), Verde Zamboanga Inc., and ZABIDA. (Leo Christopher Gaspar/Human Rights Advocacy/ZABIDA)
